What information does PIJAC collect?
In addition to membership information, PIJAC collects and maintains certain personal information about you when you send us an e-mail or complete any of our online forms, such as when you request information from us, make a donation, request to become or renew as a member, respond to surveys, register for meetings, create a website or membership account, subscribe to a mailing list.  Such information may include your name, mailing address, and e-mail address; it may also include the e-mail addresses of those to whom you forward PIJAC electronic content, and any other information collected in the forms. You may be asked to provide credit card information to become a member of PIJAC, contribute to PIJAC, or purchase certain information or materials from PIJAC.

Personal Data That You Voluntarily Provide To Us. PIJAC only collects personal data you voluntarily submit to PIJAC. The types of personal data we collect vary based on the programs, services, and products you wish to engage in, but generally include your name, business affiliation and contact information, telephone number, email address, and postal address. 

Additionally, in the event you have the opportunity to create a profile on our website, we will collect the information that you elect to upload to your profile, such as biography, your job history, and company information. You should carefully consider whether you wish to submit personal data and tailor any content you submit appropriately. 

Automatically Collected Data. When you visit the website, we collect and store certain other information automatically that may not identify you personally:

  • Internet Protocol (IP) address. An IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to the computer you are using whenever you access the Internet.
  • Type of browser and operating system used to access our website
  • Date and time you access our website
  • The pages on our website that you access

How does PIJAC protect your information?

When we ask for sensitive information, we encrypt it as it is transmitted to us. Notwithstanding the foregoing, when you submit information to PIJAC through our website, you should be aware that your information is transmitted across the Internet and that no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. Although we take reasonable security measures to protect your information when we receive it, you also need to ensure you take appropriate steps to protect your information.

PIJAC staff is trained and required to safeguard your information. Using physical, electronic and procedural safeguards, we restrict access to personal information to those employees and agents for business purposes only. Additionally, we use internal and external resources to review the adequacy of our security procedures.

Any credit card information given to us is processed through a secure third party payment gateway.  PIJAC does not store credit card information.

How does PIJAC use information collected?
When we ask you for information, we tell you, or it will be clear, what we need to fulfill your request and how we will use it. We use information for purposes of administering our business activities and providing services. We do not otherwise make your personal information available to anyone outside of PIJAC for any marketing purpose or sell or rent your personal information to third-parties for any other purposes, except in response to subpoenas or for other legal reasons.

Also, we may use the information you voluntarily provide to contact you regarding pet industry issues that we believe may be of interest to you, to keep you updated regarding PIJAC programs, and to invite you to support our programs. We may also send such information to the people whose e-mail addresses you provide when forwarding PIJAC electronic content. When we do so, our sole intent is to enlarge our family of informed advocates and organizational supporters. Every recipient of our electronic communications can quickly and easily “opt out” of future such communications by following the instructions on any electronic communication we send.

Our websites may contain links to other Internet websites or other websites may contain links to our websites. These links are provided solely as a convenience to you and not as an endorsement by PIJAC of the third-party or the contents of such third-party websites.  Unless we explicitly state otherwise, we have no control over these third-party sites and their privacy practices, information or content contained therein and we do not make any representations regarding the content or accuracy of materials on such third-party websites. This Privacy Policy applies only to information you supply (or what we collect) in connection with the use of our websites. Upon visiting any third-party website to which we may provide a link or third-party websites linked to our websites, you should review the privacy policy specific to that site.

How to Access, Correct, and Delete Information; Notice to All Users

You may correct or delete your personal information by contacting [email protected]. In addition, you may request a copy of the information PIJAC holds about you so you can correct or amend information that may be inaccurate or incomplete by contacting us at [email protected]. We may ask you to provide sufficient evidence of your identity for your own protection so we can ensure that information is being released to the correct person. We will respond to your request to access your information within 30 days.

In some cases, our business requirements and legal obligations may prevent us from being able to delete your information. If we are unable to delete your information, we will let you know if we are unable to do so and why.

Children’s Information

The website is not intended for children under 13 years of age. PIJAC does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age. If Association discovers that a child under the age of 13 has provided us with personal data, we will delete the child’s personal data unless a parent or guardian provides verifiable consent to PIJAC.

International Website Access and Cross-Border Data Transfers

Our principal place of business is in the United States. If you are visiting the website from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States where our servers are located and PIJAC is based. In addition, information that PIJAC collects may be stored and processed in and transferred between any of the countries in which PIJAC operates to enable the use of the information in accordance with this Privacy Statement. You agree to such cross-border transfers of personal information. 

Cookies

Cookies” are files that contain information created by a web server that can be stored on a user’s hard disk for future use. You can choose to accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. However, if the user declines the attachment of any cookie, the user may not have access to the full benefits of the website. 

Social Media Widgets 

The website may include social media features, such as the Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube buttons, that run on our website. These features may collect your Internet Protocol address and which page you are visiting on our website, and may set a cookie to enable the feature to function properly. Social media features and widgets are either hosted by a third-party or hosted directly on our site. Your interactions with these features are governed by the privacy policy of the company providing it.

PIJAC reserves the right to amend this Privacy Policy at any time. If we decide to change our Privacy Policy, we will post these changes on our home page so that you are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it. Any such change will be effective immediately upon posting.
