Amends Chapter 187A (Aquatic Resources) of Hawaii Revised Statutes by adding a new section prohibiting the sale of coral products in the State and the importing and exporting of coral product.

HB 842

Amends Title 19 (Health), Chapter 343 (Environmental Impact Statements), Section 343-3 (Public Records and Notice) of Hawaii Revised Statutes to require the Office of Environmental Quality Control to establish, implement, and maintain an interactive website available to the public at no cost, that provides certain information and notifications regarding environmental assessment and environmental impact statement actions.

HB 1021/SB 1175

Amends Title 12 (Conservation & Resources), Subtitle 4 (Forestry & Wildlife), Section 183D (Wildlife) of Hawaii Revised Statutes by adding a new subsection authorizing the Department of Land & Natural Resources to enter into the Interstate Wildlife Violator Compact or similar agreement for mutual assistance in the enforcement of wildlife laws.

Amends Title 12 (Conservation & Resources), Subtitle 5 (Aquatic Resources & Wildlife), Chapter 190 (Marine Life Conservation Program) of Hawaii Revised Statutes by adding a new section establishing the Marine Life Conservation Fund.

HB 1030/SB 1184

Amends Title 12 (Conservation & Resources), Subtitle 6 (General & Miscellaneous Programs), Section 197 (General Provisions Relating to Aquatic Life and Wildlife) of Hawaii Revised Statutes by repealing Section 197-4 (Aquatic Life & Wildlife Advisory Committee) and reducing the size of the Animal Species Advisory Committee.

HI HB 1084/SB 344[SD1] 

Amends Title 12 (Conservation & Resources), Subtitle 5 (Aquatic Resources & Wildlife), Chapter 189 (Commercial Fishing) of Hawaii Revised Statutes by adding a new section to prohibit all commercial capture of aquatic life for aquarium purposes, regardless of the method of collection.

Amends Title 19 (Health), Section 342G (Integrated Solid Waste Management) of Hawaii Revised Statutes by adding a new subsection prohibiting the use and distribution in the State of certain single-use plastics.

Amends Title 12 (Conservation & Resources), Subtitle 5 (Aquatic Resources & Wildlife), Chapter 188 (Fishing Rights and Regulations), Section 188-70 (Penalties) of Hawaii Revised Statutes to increase fines for aquarium fishing violations.

ORD 2020001

Ordinance No. 66 (2020) amends the Revised Ordinances of Honolulu 1990 by adding a new article entitled "Treatment of Aquatic Life" to provide that it is unlawful for any person who harvests saltwater species for aquarium purposes to treat such saltwater species in an inhumane manner.
