The "Pet Store Consumer Protection Act" amends Title 35 (Agriculture), Article 80 (Pet Animal Care & Facilities Act) of Colorado Revised Statutes by adding a new Section 108.5 (Dog breeders and cat breeders - prohibited sales and purchases of dogs or cats) to prohibit a pet store that was not licensed by the Commissioner of Agriculture prior to the effective date of this bill from selling or offering to sell dogs or cats on or after the effective date of this bill. (Enacted bill struck pet sale ban/grandfathering language and replaced with disclosure language.)
The "Colorado Socially Conscious Sheltering Act" amends Title 35 (Agriculture), Article 80 (Pet Animal Care & Facilities Act) of Colorado Revised Statutes by adding a new Section 35-80-106.6 to specify the standard of care that each animal shelter and pet animal rescue is required to provide each dog and cat held in its custody.
Amends Title 25 (Public Health & Environment), Article 17 (Waste Diversion & Recycling) of CO Revised Statutes Annotated by adding a new Part 5 (Management of Plastic Products) to prohibit stores and retail establishments from providing single-use plastic carryout bags to customers after September 1, 2022.
Amends Chapter 6 (Neighborhood Vitality/Community Health), Article 7 (Regulation of Animals-General Provisions), Section 118 (Unlawful Sale or Display) of the Colorado Springs, CO Code of Ordinances to restrict the retail sale of dogs and cats in city pet stores.
Ordinance No. 2021-4 amends Title 6 (Police Regulations), Chapter 4 (Animal Control) of Vail, CO Town Code by adding a new Article B (Pet Shops) to prohibit the sale of cats or dogs in retail pet shops.
