Amends Chapter 173 (Animals; Humane Officers), Section 173.41 (Regulation of persons who sell dogs or operate animal shelters) of Wisconsin Statutes by creating a new subsection 173.41: 9m (Pet Stores) to prohibit a pet store from selling dogs and cats, beginning on January 1, 2020.

Amends Chapter 951 (Crimes Against Animals), Section 951.18 (Penalties) of Wisconsin Statutes to revise the penalty for animal abuse from a Class C forfeiture to a Class I felony.

Proposed ordinance amends Title 8 (Animals), Chapter 8.08 (Animals-Care and Control), Sections 8.08.001 (Definitions) and 8.08.010 (Certain Creatures Forbidden) of Wausau, WI Municipal Code to prohibit individuals from keeping, maintaining or having in their possession or under their control venomous reptiles, dangerous wild animals, insects or reptiles, or other animals or reptiles of wild, vicious or dangerous propensities.
