Final Disposition of Priority Legislation
Amends Public Act 14-205 (Task Force to Study the Humane Treatment of Animals in Municipal and Regional Shelters) to extend the reporting deadline of the task force from January 1, 2015 to January 1, 2019.
DIED ON HOUSE CALENDAR
Amends Chapter 490 (Fisheries & Game), Section 26-78 (Sale of birds, quadrupeds, reptiles or amphibians) of CT General Statutes to prohibit the sale or trade of snapping turtles and red-eared slider turtles.
Amends Chapter 435 (Dogs & Other Companion Animals; Kennels and Pet Shops), Section 22-344 (Licensing of commercial kennel, pet shop, training facility or grooming facility) of CT General Statutes by repealing and replacing subsection (f) to require municipal pounds and shelters to register with the Department of Agriculture and follow the same sanitation and animal treatment standards as other registered facilities.
DIED IN COMMITTEE
An Act to amend CT General Statutes to hold the owner or keeper of a dog that attacks and injures or kills a seeing eye dog or an assistance dog liable for damages (economic and non-economic).
An Act to amend CT General Statutes to provide that that the Department of Emergency Services & Public Protection shall establish and maintain a registry of all persons required to register as offenders convicted of committing a crime involving animal abuse.
