Throughout 2017, PIJAC has made a concerted effort to providing the responsible pet industry’s values and perspectives with relevant media. A huge part of that is creating relationships with the dedicated cat, dog, and other writers who care for and about pets through blogs, social media, and other online sources.
In a first for PIJAC, we were able to attend the annual BlogPaws conference, held last week in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. There, PIJAC Director of Communications Dustin Siggins learned firsthand what makes pet bloggers tick, chatting with dozens of passionate promoters of pet prose.
For example, did you know about Positively Woof, run by professional freelance writer Robbi Hess, who also runs All Words Matter, Inc.? Hess presented on four steps to better efficiency as a writer or any other professional in a room packed full of pet bloggers.
Dr. Paula Gregg of Sweet Purrfections showed off photos of her female Silver Shaded Persians, describing her favorite furred friends to Siggins. And “Prepared Performer” Molly Mahoney showcased her self-described “Facebook Live Ninja” skills in talking about how to use Facebook Live for any pet – even, according to Mahoney, hedgehogs.
These pet advocates were just a few of the many people who took the time to explain their perspective on pets, pet writing, and taking care of pets to Siggins. PIJAC is looking forward to being in touch with these advocates, and to attending BlogPaws next year!
