The Meritage Resort and Spa is a wonderful retreat from the every day, but there are a number of fun and interesting places to visit during your trip.
Here is another small sampling to help you plan your very own workcation:
Shopping at Napa Outlets, Yountville, St. Helena, Calistoga
Take some time to visit the exquisite shops and stores throughout the Napa Valley. From the locally crafted creations of the Napa General Store to the upscale specialty shops of V Marketplace, this is one shopping excursion you won’t forget.
Robert Louis Stevenson State Park
As U.S. News and World Report says, “Most people don’t come to California wine country for untamed nature, but those who do find bliss in Robert Louis Stevenson State Park.” Just a short drive from Napa, a short hike will reward you with fantastic views of the Napa Valley in all it’s glory.
For more information, check out the California State Parks’ website.
Culinary Institute of America
From 10best.com, “A note to travelers, this is not the secret agent kind of CIA, however what the chefs do there with food is perhaps just as sly and sophisticated. The building itself, Greystone, was formerly the Christian Brother’s Winery, and rises like an impressive castle just north of St. Helena. While it’s possible to go and eat at the restaurant, which is staffed by the school’s culinary students, it’s more fun to sign up for a Saturday or Sunday cooking demonstration to learn how they make some of their masterpieces.”
Check their website for a demonstration calendar and additional information.
Napa Valley Opera House
The Napa Valley Opera House website describes it as, “Stately yet understated, historic yet rejuvenating, the Napa Valley Opera House has been one of Napa’s most important cultural icons since 1880.” A truly wonderful place to take in a film, a ballet, a show, or any performance, if not just to visit and see this Napa landmark.
Visit their website for more information about the Napa Valley Opera House and performances.
Bike Napa Valley
Enjoy all that the Napa Valley landscape has to offer, up close and personal, with a guided bike tour. The folks at Napa Valley Bike Tours have been pedaling the Wine Country roads since 1987 with their signature guided bike tours designed for “the tourist, not the cyclist!” The casual pace allows you to enjoy the scenery, discover great wineries, and learn about the local history during your excursion.
