WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council (PIJAC) released the Topic Roundtable Survey today. The survey suggests topics to be discussed between industry leaders during the Pet Industry’s Top2Top Conference on April 23-25, 2013. These roundtable discussions offer ways to connect with industry leaders and devise solutions to our common goals and issues. PIJAC will incorporate these ideas into the plans for the coming year.
“The Top2Top Conference is designed with industry leaders in mind,” states Mike Canning, President and CEO of PIJAC. “The Topic Roundtables provide the opportunity for attendees to have the discussions that matter most to them about the issues facing the industry,” he added.
The survey has been sent to everyone registered for the conference. Survey respondents can choose among the topics suggested or add their own ideas to the mix. Proposed topics include:
- Effective campaigns to highlight the industry and combat negative press
- Industry messaging we can all use
- Self-regulation as the answer to increased legislation
- Specific legislation areas by pet category
- AWA and dog breeding
Once the topics have been finalized, each attendee will have the opportunity to sign up for one discussion.
The Topic Roundtables will be for one hour on April 25th. Immediately following the Topic Roundtables will be the Closing Session. The facilitated closing session will highlight the roundtable discussions with a focus on moving the industry forward. One presenter from each roundtable discussion will give a five-minute overview of ideas generated during the roundtables. An open forum discussion will follow to create action items for moving the industry forward.
“The Topic Roundtables provide an opportunity for everyone to be involved in the issues we face today as an industry,” states Canning. “These discussions will provide the blueprint we need to move forward as an industry. You’ll want to be a part of it,” Canning added.
